Irritable Bowel Syndrome, also known as spastic colon, colitis,
Chron's disease, ileitis, or nervous stomach, is a complex set of
gastrointestinal symptoms that affects 15% to 20% of the population. It
is characterized by intermittent abdominal cramping, constipation and/or
diarrhea, pain and bloating, depression, anxiety, severe fatigue, and
even bleeding. It is the second most cited reason for missed work days.
Some IBS patients report having both constipation and diarrhea in the
same day. A diagnosis of IBS is actually a diagnosis of exclusion--you
rule out everything else. Since IBS symptoms overlap a number of other,
potentially life-threatening conditions, it is imperative that the
person see his/her physician or a gastroenterologist, to receive proper
testing & the correct diagnosis. Once this is done, self-healing
in inne awareness should begin immediately. Symptoms range in severity from
an occasional mild episode to a debilitating, life-altering illness
which prevents the individual from working or from functioning normally.
The symptoms are exacerbated by stress, changes in diet and variations
in daily routine, among many other things. Some people are so sensitive
they must eat virtually the same foods, in the same proportions, at the
same times each day or suffer the consequences. While IBS will not kill
you, it is far more than just a nuisance. Unfortunately only 25% of the
people who suffer with IBS symptoms respond "somewhat" to
traditional medical treatments. That means that 75% do not seem to
improve with traditional treatments or do not improve enough to actually
feel better. In the U.S., the medical treatment consists of medication
& diet. If that is not successful, the surgeons may eventually
remove huge portions of your intestines leaving you handicapped for the
rest of your life.
However, the evidence is overwhelming that IBS
symptoms respond well to self-healing healing. Not only do they respond,
but they respond dramatically! In the last 15 years, research has shown
that mind therapy can help heal gastrointestinal dysfunction. In England
& other European countries, healing one's mind & feelings is the procedure of choice
for IBS. In the studies conducted, every patient undergoing self-healing
showed substantial improvement in all central symptoms of IBS. The
general conclusions from most of these studies are that self-healing
seems to improve the worst symptoms of 90% or more of all treated
patients who have well-defined "classic" IBS symptoms.
Furthermore, the improvement is maintained after self-healing has
concluded. What is particularly remarkable is that this high rate of
positive treatment response is seen even in studies where the
participating patients all have failed to improve from regular medical
care. The research evidence to support this is so dramatic and so
overwhelming that numerous physicians have now said that healing in
inner awareness
should be the procedure of choice for "all" cases of IBS. In
today's climate of healing & wellness, self-healing represents a
brief therapy which is pleasant, inexpensive and noninvasive.
(Unfortunately in the United States, too many people have been subjected
to surgery in a futile attempt to eliminate their IBS. Even after
surgery, however, symptoms may reoccur or persist. These post-surgery
individuals should also utilize self-healing in inner awareness to help
heal their bodies.)
Self-healing in inner awareness concentrates on removing
long-standing repressed emotional stress (of which the individual is
unaware), preventing & eliminating daily stress; teaching emotional
expression & catharsis, eliminating anxiety and depression,
eliminating or modifying the stress of perfectionism, improving
self-esteem, developing self-assertiveness, utilizing visual imagery,
and self-healing. All of the therapeutic healing work is done while the
patient is in deep relaxation using the subconscious mind. The majority of
patients that have been used self-healing will typically show a
dramatic cessation of their symptoms, eliminate medications, and remain
symptom free, giving them the ability to return to a normal lifestyle.
Unquestionably anyone with Irritable Bowel Syndrome should use
self-healing in inner awareness to help them heal & vastly improve their
lives.
